Our Team

Michael Lombardi

President

As President of Green Oceans, Michael brings his deep experience as a diving scientist and technologist to the organization’s mission. Having spent much of his adult life underwater, he has a profound commitment to protecting the marine ecosystem. He discovered a new species of fish that bears his name, Derilissus lombardii. His work spanning marine biotechnology, fisheries, complex marine construction, and respiratory medicine gives him a uniquely broad perspective to help advance Green Oceans’ goals. Michael is active in the field as the co-Chair of the Marine Technology Society’s Diving Technical Committee, and his research has been funded by the National Geographic Society. In this role, Michael is focused on advancing Green Oceans' Federal offshore wind litigation, strengthening science communication and member engagement, and building the organization's long-term impact to ensure conservation stays central as ocean industrialization expands.
